Chi era contro le indulgenze?

La causa più particolare fu la polemica sorta a seguito delle 95 tesi di Lutero pubblicate contro la vendita delle indulgenze in Germania e in altre parti d’Europa. Il 31 ottobre 1517, Lutero affisse le tesi sul portone della Cattedrale di Wittenberg come forma di protesta contro la Chiesa.

Perché Martin Lutero condannò la vendita delle indulgenze?

La critica di Lutero nacque dalla convinzione che la salvezza umana risiedesse in Dio e che solo la fede conducesse alla giustificazione dell’anima. Il commercio delle indulgenze era dunque una pratica blasfema e la concessione stessa della grazia un riconoscimento inutile.

Cosa appese Martin Lutero?

Secondo la tradizione, Lutero affisse l’elenco delle tesi sul portone della chiesa di Ognissanti del castello di Wittenberg, il 31 ottobre 1517. Lo storico Erwin Iserloh rigettò la storicità dell’affissione delle 95 tesi Wittenberg, attestata solamente da Melantone, e dopo la morte di Lutero.

Cosa contenevano le 95 tesi di Martin Lutero?

Le 95 tesi (l’originale è in latino) riguardano soprattutto la vendita delle indulgenze, il ruolo e i poteri del Papa e il rapporto tra il credente e Dio. La vendita delle indulgenze era praticata dalla Chiesa di Roma per finanziare la costruzione della Basilica di San Pietro.
